As our viewers will remember, since Gretchen Butler has been carefully keeping records of this Bald Eagle nest, located in Northeastern Florida.
At the same time, they protected their nest from all intruders, keeping eggs and eaglets safe. However, last season was very different, as several large mature eagles disturbed the peace and tranquility of this nest.
The expectations of the season ended in heartache as Juliet returned to the nest with an injury and was subsequently driven from the nest by a rival just days before the eggs were to hatch, leaving Romeo to do the work of two.
When an egg hatched on Christmas Day , a female eagle following Romeo to the nest swooped down and took the hatchling.
This was not A2. A2 continued to be seen with Samson and they evolved into a bonded pair. For months, our viewers have called this beautiful eagle Gabby because she is so talkative, and in October she was officially given the elegant name Gabrielle by the NEFL team.
Samson hatched in the very nest featured in this site on December 23, This was a happy nest; food was in abundance, and there was very little sibling rivalry between Samson and older sibling, Delilah, who hatched on December Samson and Delilah both successfully fledged the nest, gained strength and honed their hunting skills.
We know that Samson left the area on April 22, , at days old. It was four years later that Samson was seen back at the nest, with positive identification being made by photographic markers and also by his flattened toe, which had been observed while he was still a nestling.
Samson appeared back at the nest on August 26, and began bringing in sticks and moss, giving us an indication he was claiming the nest and preparing for the season ahead.
His mate, Gabrielle, appeared on September Since then, the pair has been seen bonding numerous times, hanging out with each other, and sleeping in the nest tree or nearby.
We believe that we have seen a changing of the guard in the Hamlet. A pip was first visible on Feb. The second egg, NE23, was laid January 16, at p.
The first pip was observed February 20 at a. On April 20 Jules officially branched and perched higher on April Romy officially branched on April Jules fledged on May 7, and Romy fledged on May Jules has not been spotted since her fledge day, but Romy continues to frequent the nest and surrounding area with Samson providing for him.
Gabrielle has not been seen since May It is possible she and Jules are together and may yet return to the nest or be spotted this season.
Both parent eagles are doing an amazing job in caring for their offspring. This is a new beginning for all of us as Samson continues the legacy of the Hamlet.

I've never seen anything like that before or since. That alone marks the film as a masterpiece, and nothing any critic can say is relevant next to that emotional reaction.
Those sobbing teenagers are absolute proof that any critic who panned this film is a fool.
Di'Caprio wasn't very famous at that point though I believe he'd already been nominated for an oscar for an indy film.
Later that night, I had dinner with friends and predicted that this boy would become the biggest star in Hollywood -- by tomorrow!
I was off by a couple of years. Rare in film history has there been such a perfect casting -- Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo.
The mythical balcony scene is freshly designed and executed wonderfully, bringing the myth to life before our eyes.
But the crowning glory and superpower of this film is the 'love at first sight' scene - ironic in that there are no words spoken words being Shakespeare's superpower.
It's all done with the eyes by the two young genius actors, combined with inspired camera work and the devastating vocal performance of Des'ree.
This is one of the most beautiful, greatest, and most powerful scenes in cinematic history. What is this emotion -- love at first sight?
It might only happen two or three times in our entire lives. It isn't real love. So is it just trivial, adolescent silliness? I think it is much more than that -- and so did Shakespeare.
What is our emotional relationship with our desires that can never be? We're haunted forever by the impossiblity of perfect love as much as we were ever thrilled by the fantasy of it.
It is a masterpiece. As an English teacher, teaching Shakespeare can be quite a challenge. For modern students, trying to connect the concepts, theme, and setting of Romeo and Juliet can be quite a challenge.
Keeping them engaged in the struggle of Shakespearean language is even more so. This version of the play is accurate and most importantly, entertaining.
We, as a class, will read a portion of the play and then I will show this film to help cement ideas, dialogue, and characters. The students love the film, laugh, and respond better to the play than without!
I did not want to see this movie for years after its release. I consider myself a purist where the Bard of Avon is concerned.
Period costumes, true to Shakespeare's lines, etc. Eventually I watched this and found a gem. From the factions portrayed as rival gangs, to the outstanding delivery of the lines.
The true crowning jewel is the over the top performance by the inimitable John Leguizamo. As Tibalt, John is amazing.
Watch it for educational purposes. As a film and literature teacher, I love this movie. The dialogue is the most accurate of all the Romeo and Juliet film adaptations; although sometimes the lines are spoken by characters who do not originally speak those lines.
This version does a fantastic job of using symbolism to express the main themes of the play; it is visible in almost all aspects, from color to music.
The archetypes present also help students to understand the thematic implications of the story itself. Students are usually mostly divided as to whether or not they like the film, but when used to accent the play, this version helps to fill in gaps in student knowledge by making it more visible on the screen.
What's more, the cinematography of Baz Luhrmann is so uniquely stylistic that I devote an entire unit in my film as literature class to him as a director and producer.
Even if you do not like Shakespeare, or even this film; the educational benefits are numerous. See all reviews from the United States.
Top international reviews. It was not until yesterday, the tragedy of this film hit me. The first time I watched this film was September in my Year 11 English class when we just so happened to be studying Romeo and Juliet.
This film just gets it right on so many levels. This film is of epic proportion. It is a tragedy come to life. The mise en scene is just breathtaking, the penultimate scene in particular just blew me away.
The sight of Romeo and Juliet laying side by side in a sea of lights was absolutely beautiful. The plot itself seems ludicrous on paper but the way it manifests on screen is strangely believable.
That brings me to the performances. There is a reason that this performance thrust DiCaprio into the limelight.
He IS Romeo. Right now I struggle how to even put it into words. As soon as he looked up on that beach, my heart was stolen. Not only is he beautiful, but he is so naive about love, so infatuated with Juliet.
When he says he never saw true beauty until Juliet, you are completely sold. He is spellbound. The lengths that he goes to just to be with her is absurd, but it breaks your heart.
Speaking of hearts breaking, Claire Danes really makes you feel for Juliet. The scene in particular where her father threatens to disown her is heart - wrenching.
Not because of the thought alone, but because we realise that the only person who shows her real love is her nurse. I commend this film for its boldness and for its frankness did I mention it retains the dialogue!
It does not try to twist the ending or sugarcoat the story. While you do feel bittersweet afterwards, this is a film that you will find yourself revisiting time and time again.
